The Last Picture at the back of Chapter Fourteen gives me goosebumps. I didn't notice it before someone mentioned it on the internet. If you look closely, there is a question mark in the water and no boat.
Thinking about it gives me goosebumps!
It seems like the water swallowed up the Baudelaires and they're dead!
But they can't be because there are a lot of clues of them living, like in the Beatrice Letters where Sunny's radio show is mentioned and Violet returning to Briny Beach is mentioned in the Bad Beginning Rare Edition.
That thing in the water could be the incredibly deadly viper though. It does look like it could be some kind of creature.
